AJFF Connects: El Gusto
October 27 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival and the Ismaili Council for the Southeastern United States presents the musical documentary El Gusto. This screening event is part of AJFF Connects, which uses the power of film to build bridges of understanding and spark dialogue with diverse audiences.
El Gusto tells the story of an orchestra of Jewish and Muslim musicians torn apart by war over 50 years ago, reunited for an exceptional concert. El Gusto rediscovers the lost melodies of Chaabi, an infectious musical form that transcends national, social, and religious boundaries. Echoing The Buena Vista Social Club, this heartwarming film is sure to elicit tears and cheers as it weaves a mosaic of Algerian history, multiculturalism, and effervescent music.
Prior to the screening, there will be a tour of the Ismaili Jamatkhana along with a viewing of the Aga Khan Historic Cities Exhibition, snacks, and mingling.
